Jooyoung Lee
Jooyoung Lee
Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA in 2009. Between 2009-2011, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health & Society Scholars at the University of Pennsylvania.
I have broad interests in urban ethnography, crime, race/ethnicity, health, and culture. Although I have published on substantive topics including gun violence, rap battles, and emotions, I have an enduring fascination with how and why people’s identities change over time. You can find out more about my research on the following pages of this website.
Here is my CV, and a link to my blog, “Guns, Rap, Crime.” Please contact me if you have questions, or if you just want to say hello!
